What
does Religious Science teach?
In
its practice and teaching, Religious Science endeavors to include the
whole life. It is not a dreamy, mystical cult, but the exponent of a vigorous
message which is applicable to the everyday needs of mankind: CHANGE YOUR
THINKING TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
The conventional
idea of a future life, with its teachings of rewards and punishment, is
not stressed; the message is good news for the here and now. Religious
Science says that religion, if it means anything, means right living,
and right living and right thinking wait upon no future, but bestow their
rewards in this world - in better health, happier homes, and all that
makes for a well-balanced, normal life. Discover how you can make the
most of your potential. Learn to use your innate creative ability to realize
all your goals. Make your life an exciting adventure.
What is Science of Mind?
The
Science of Mind teachings are a correlation of the laws of science, the
opinions of philosophy, and the revelations of religion applied to the
needs and the aspirations of humankind.
Who is Ernest Holmes?
Ernest
Holmes was an unassuming, self-educated, American born philosopher who
founded our movement in 1927.
What is our belief about Jesus?
We
do not deny the divinity of Jesus, but rather we affirm the divinity of
all people, because God is the father of us all. We think of Jesus as
an example, not an exception to the rule. We accept his example and teachings.
What do we believe about the bible?
It
is amongst many scriptures, all of which were inspired by the One Mind
and presented through various spiritual teachers. We believe that for
Western man, the Judeo-Christian scriptures offer an appropriate path
to spiritual freedom.
What does Science of Mind believe about God?
We
believe in an infinite, intelligent, creative, life force which we call
God. We are an individualization of this Universal Spirit. It is the source,
essence, and substance of all. There is no other power.
Does the Science of Mind believe in heaven and hell?
Heaven
and hell are states of mind. We need not die to get to heaven; but rather
behold that kingdom of God within us now. This is what it means to live
in heaven. Hell is just the experience of a sense of separation from God,
Life, Good, brought on by self-judgment, guilt, superstition and the failure
to behold that presence of God within us, working through us, as us now.
Does Science of Mind believe in good and evil?
No!
We believe in good only; for we believe in God only. Good is the experience
of God in some form. What we call "evil" is the lack of good:
a lack of the experience of good, a lack of the awareness of good, a lack
of the expression of good. Just as darkness is nothing but the experience
of lack of light, evil too is nothing but the experience of lack and deprivation.
There is no "evil force", but it is possible for us to repress
the good by refusing to express the God that is within us. We call the
results of such repression evil.
What We Believe
We believe in God, the infinite spirit of Life
We believe that all are incarnations of the One
We believe in the eternality of the individual
We believe that the kingdom of God is within
We believe the ultimate goal in life is freedom
We believe unity of all life
We believe that God is personal to all
We believe in the direct revelation of truth
We believe that it is done unto us as we believe
We believe in the healing of the sick
We believe in the God's Law of Cause and Effect
We believe in our own soul, our own spirit, and choosing our own destiny;
for we understand that our life is the life of God.
Changing Your Life
"To
learn how to think is to learn how to live."
"If
you will take time daily to sense the presence of Life within you, to
believe in it, to accept it, ...undesirable experiences which you have
known will gradually disappear and something new will be born, a bigger,
better, and more perfect you. You will pass from lack and want into a
greater freedom, from fear into faith. From a sense of being alone, you
will pass into the realization of oneness with everything, and you will
rejoice." -Ernest Holmes
